The Village Preschool • 2156 E. Liberty Lane

Tucked inside Desert Foothills United Methodist Church, The Village Preschool prides itself in being a school committed to small class sizes and individual attention.

With a total enrollment of about 22 kids, the small, private preschool offers programs for 2- and 3-year-olds as well as a pre-kindergarten class.

With its motto of being a place “where children are celebrated,” The Village started in 2000 with the intention of developing well-rounded children.

According to their website, the young learners leave socially, emotionally and academically prepared for kindergarten.

Registration for the 2013-14 school year began in February. The school is located at 2156 E. Liberty Lane.

Kyrene Akimel A-al Middle School, 2720 E. Liberty Lane, has been part of the Ahwatukee area since 1992, offering each of their Rattlers an enjoyable schooling experience from the morning bell to the ending bell.

According to its website, the name of the school is derived from the Akimel O’odham meaning, “Children of the River.”

The school houses just fewer than 1,100 students.

Principal Mike Deignan said the school offers different sport activities and a learning lab before school starts, which offers students time before school to seek extra help with work completion or tutoring.

“That keeps our students involved with a lot of things, between the sports and the learning lab,” Deignan said.
