In the wake of the downturn that launched in 2008, it’s old news by now that the construction industry took a massive hit. Nearly half of those in the construction business were forced to find work elsewhere. Today, even as the housing market — and by default the contracting industry — rejuvenates, reports over the summer showed a weaker pool of skilled labor available to meet the spike in demand for new homes. Even with a smaller workforce, some builders are expanding and producing scores of homes across our community. It is encouraging for those of us in the industry that long to see the return of a plentiful home supply, and a thriving construction industry. Discovery at Desert Vistas
Lennar Homes has started construction on Discovery at Desert Vistas located at 32nd Street and Chandler Boulevard. The subdivision boasts 49 home sites with plans under way. Homes range in size from 1,640 square feet to 2,903 square feet, with base prices starting at the mid-$200,000s ranging to $300,000-plus. Standard features include six-panel interior doors, Satin Nickel hardware, GE Black appliances, Moen chrome fixtures, 30” Timberlake maple flat panel cabinets, laminate counter tops, showers and tubs with surrounds, elongated toilets, vinyl windows, 14 SEER energy-efficient HVAC, and pre-wired for electric, phone and cable per plan — with loads of optional upgrades and custom packages to choose from. Rosewood Villages at the Foothills
The award-winning Rosewood Homes has broken ground across 11.9 acres, showcasing 59 unique, energy efficient homes in Foothills’ newest gated community, Desert Foothills Marketplace. Nestled near Desert Foothills Parkway and Chandler Boulevard, single-family home floor plans range from 1,700 square feet to 2,400 square feet. The homes will feature lush landscaping and owners will enjoy the fantastic sense of community for which the Foothills has earned acclaim. This certain to be sought after community will include access to recreational amenities such as a fire pit, barbecue area and event lawn. Vantage Phase II at Club West
WestStone Communities plans to open Vantage Phase II, an exclusive condominium community that offers lush living at an affordable value, in early 2014. Phase II will include 127 brand new luxury condominiums, with two or three bedrooms, ranging from 1,170 to 2,168 square feet, starting at the low $200s. Single or two-car garages are available. Can’t seem to locate your dream home from those available? According to the ARMLS, there are currently 20 custom lots available in the Ahwatukee area for sale.
