Being a work day and living in Ahwatukee Foothills I didn’t have time to make it to City Square Church in downtown Phoenix, so I attended the nearby Mountain View Lutheran Church Good Friday service during lunch. Half way through the meditation sermons all seemed ordinary until Senior Pastor Glenn Zorb exhibited stroke like symptoms. From that point on the service was anything but normal for me, it became impactful!

As the pastor preached about the human suffering that Jesus endured, the message became real seeing our own fragile human condition up close and personal. During this episode, Associate Pastor Leland Armbright graciously and seamlessly skipped through the balance of the meditation sermons and lead the congregation to the scheduled songs that followed each sermon.

A local firefighter member checked on Pastor Zorb as the congregation rolled along with the punch. Unknown to me, this is a recurring condition. How do you transform an average Good Friday service into a memorable event? Make a connection of being human while talking about God! I get it!
