It is a sad day in our city when turnout for our mayoral general election was under 25 percent. As ballots arrive in mailboxes across Phoenix, and the campaigns ramp up their get-out-the-vote efforts, I have two requests of my Ahwatukee neighbors: 1. Please vote on or before Nov. 8, and 2. Make sure to vote for the candidate who truly represents your values.
For nine years, Greg Stanton represented our community on the Phoenix City Council, and fought to protect our values, and advance the issues that were important to our neighborhood.
Together, we pushed back when special interests tried to push the 202 freeway through South Mountain, and we won. Stanton fought hard to bring the Pecos Community Center and police substation, as well as the firehouse on 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard to Ahwatukee. Stanton never sold out to lobbyists, like his opponent - he always fought for us.
This election is too important to sit on the sidelines. Phoenix is at a turning point, and we need an optimistic vision for our future. Please make sure to vote, and when you do, vote Greg Stanton for mayor!
