Diane Brown, executive director of the Arizona PIRG Education Fund (formerly New Jersey’s and Illinois’ PIRG executive director), fails to mention (“SRP needs to provide vision, advance energy efficiency,” AFN, March 29) that Salt River Project (SRP) meets and exceeds all FERC, NERC, and EPA (FED government agencies) regulations and SRP provides lower utility rates than “regulated utilities” in Arizona.

She also fails to mention the “regulated utilities” also sponsor and support “marketing and contributions irrelevant to the promotion of energy efficiency ... blah, blah, blah!” How could she miss that ... a pro-regulation (FED government) groupie, perhaps?

While most of us have to stand still waiting until we know how and where the current administration will dump us, Diane Brown wants a 15-year plan/budget from SRP for future reduced costs. Do I want to know what it is? No. I can pretty much expect higher rates and I am willing to pay for my AC to run sufficiently for the next 15 years. I am confident in SRP’s ability to keep our costs as low as they possibly can while providing efficient and renewable energy and still providing support for our community. Just what a good business does!

Diane, I think I hear Chicago calling you!
