Regarding the April 22 opinion guest commentary by Michael Weinstein, “Obama pledges immigration reform ... again.” He suggests that Obama panders to the Hispanic community when he says immigration reform is important to him.

Beyond stating that reform is important to him and trying politically to garner some help in doing anything at all towards reform, what should he do?

Are we to believe that the Republican candidate, if elected, would have a solution? Romney’s idea is self deportation and kill the Dream Act ... terrific. I’m sure that’s a real vote-getter and a solution all Hispanics could get behind. We shall see.
