Dear Editor:

I want to shed light on an aspect of hunting that has traditionally been given little attention. Recently The Don's Sport Shop in Scottsdale partnered with Hunting Works for AZ, a partnership of businesses like mine, and organizations, to highlight the impact this industry has on the local economy.

While most people see value in hunting because of its enjoyment as a hobby or activity, I value hunting also for the business it brings to my company and other local and similar businesses. During this season where many businesses see an increase in sales, hunting season does the same for businesses like mine.

Sporting shops are in business because of this industry. In fact, hunters directly support more than 4,200 jobs in Arizona and indirectly support thousands more.

The impact that hunters in Arizona have on the business of sporting and hunting stores, as well as the individuals who work in them, cannot be underestimated, and this is another reason for us to be thankful this season.
