Joe Campbell’s letter (“Phoenix taxpayers deserve better representation,” AFN, May 8) has a unique view as to what is and what is not in the interests of those of us who live in District 6 of Phoenix.

For those of us who are NOT city employees, the exorbitant pensions and regular salary increases appear to be against our interests, especially when accompanied by higher taxes. Councilman Sal DiCiccio’s effort to divert the freeway from Pecos Road and onto the Gila River Indian Community would appear to be better for Ahwatukee residents, not worse.

Perhaps Mr. Campbell believes, as most of our city government believes, that the only constituents who matter are city employees. The rest of us are here to pay the taxes.
