You've heard it before, but perhaps I can save some pet owner the profound emotional grief I'm feeling. I'm retired and my 10-year constant companion, a neutered male Siamese cat, was killed and partially eaten about dawn on Oct. 21. He was killed in my front yard, 15 feet from the front door, not on the golf course. Subsequently, a neighbor told me he has seen a coyote near our mailbox, which means they are hunting on our residential streets. Coyotes are an immediate threat, in fact they can be just a few feet from our front doors.
