Dear Editor:
They year 2011 may just have started, but there are some things that are already looking up. We've all seen the cost of health care go up every year, and for some people this has gotten in their way of receiving care. I was happy to see that on New Year's Day, a provision of the health reform bill, the Affordable Care Act, was implemented that requires insurance companies to show that 80 to 85 percent of premium costs are spent on patient care.
What is most exciting about this is that insurance companies that don't spend that percentage on patient care have to give their customers rebates. We all know that a great number of people are struggling right now. Seeing the cost of health care go down will certainly be a welcome change to Arizonans and people across the country.
