After reading the “Obama the activist” letter to the editor from Don Crook (AFN, Aug. 14), I was just wondering if you printed the letter to show his ignorance or you would seriously print such an anti-American letter in your paper.

I have spent my entire life in law enforcement, including 10 years as Special Deputy U.S. Marshall, and extremist anti-American rhetoric, whether it be on the left or right, needs to be dealt with seriously, not encouraged by my local newspaper. Unless you printed the letter as an example of what ignorance, intolerance and lack of education looks like. Then I applaud you.

Don Crook's letter was off the charts crazy, and I was wondering how it got published myself.
