Have we had enough of our state schools superintendent John Huppenthal yet? Did his tussle with an elderly woman over the removal of a competitive candidate’s sign make you see red? Does his blatant touting of private schools through robocalls seem at odds with his elected position as superintendent of PUBLIC instruction? And now, how about his anonymous posting on political blogs, calling welfare recipients “lazy pigs” and vilifying Margaret Sanger for her work with Planned Parenthood?

There is hope. Dr. David Garcia, associate professor at Arizona State University, is running against Huppenthal. Garcia has the background, know-how and moral integrity to do the job right. He is the former associate superintendent of Public Instruction for Standards and Accountability and is widely regarded as a national expert on education policy and research. He’s what we need. Not someone who hides behind the anonymity of pseudonyms and public blogs to promote his biased agenda to the detriment of Arizona’s school kids.
