Dear Editor:
Republicans' exploitation of Lincoln's adage - i.e., you can fool some of the people all of the time - is perfectly manifest in their clumsy portrayal of President Obama as an irresponsible loafer, addicted to vacations. At this same time in his presidency, George W. Bush had taken 2.4 times as many vacation days as Obama. Bush averaged nearly a week a month vs. Obama's 2.5 days per month.
But, of course, Republicans are never confused by the facts.
Reactionary political ideology always trumps truth.
