I’m stunned that reader Joe Campbell claims that “jobs, medical care, Social Security, pensions, collective bargaining, and women’s rights...” are “family values” (“Check their records, vote accordingly,” AFN, March 14).
Somehow I thought “family values” had to do with loving, taking care of, and supporting each other in a traditional family environment, knowing right from wrong, working hard “to get ahead” and to be able to send your children to college?
I think Campbell’s attitude is, unfortunately, representative of a good portion of the population, even here in Ahwatukee Foothills: the ultimate in the dumbing-down of America.
