I started to get light headed and a little dizzy.

So I knew it was time to get my wrestling fix so I got a hold of Desert Vista coach David Gonzalez to get an update on how the summer is going for the Thunder.

Turns out Chandler's Dalton Brady isn't the only area wrestler getting time at the Olympic Training this summer.

While Brady is taking it a step further by moving to Colorado to train year round, Desert Vista two-time state champion Robbie Mathers is there for about a month before returning to Arizona only to head up to Fargo for the Cadet/Junior Nationals in mid-July.

Gonzo also said that junior state champion Alex Bambic will be heading to Colorado at some point this summer as well between stops in Fargo and Mexico for various events.

He added that the East Valley as a whole will be sending about 60 kids to Fargo for the national freestyle and Greco Roman events.

While all that was positive, the one thing Gonzo, who is the state director for USA Wrestling Club, was unhappy how Arizona has fared at national dual events in recent weeks.

"We will never match teams back East until we start getting quality depth," he said. "We can match them with our top individuals but when it comes to getting depth to our lineup we have some work to do. We have to make sure we pick the right kids so we can hang in there better."
