Mountain Pointe senior running back/returner/quarterback/leader Dillan Johnson officially picked Dixie State College to continue his football career, his mother said Friday in an email.
Johnson, who is 5-foot-8 and 158 pounds, took his time with the decision instead of rushing into it on Feb. 1 when most athletes declared their destinations to make sure it was the correct one.
He took a recent visit to Menlo College (Atherton, Calif.,), which only solidified his initial feeling to attend Dixie State, a Division II program in St. George, Utah.
It should be a good fit for Johnson, who rushed for 1,287 yards and 16 touchdowns after beginning the year at quarterback to fill the void left when incumbent Kyle Faunce returned home to Indiana, as he can use his athleticism and quickness and not be swallowed up by the size of Division I athletes.
