There just might be a pipeline starting between the Mountain Pointe and the University of Arizona baseball programs.
Although Joey Curletta ended up signing a pro contract with the Dodgers, he was headed to Tucson if he was going the college route.
Now, word has come that Pride shortstop Scott Kingery will play there
this fall and junior Cole Tucker verbally committed for the 2015 class,
according to athletic director Ian Moses.
And then there is this: Happy to have @cotuck in the wildcat fam and as
a teammate once again! See you on the field in a few years;) #beardown
That, in case you didn't know, was a tweet by Kingery to Tucker.
That's as good as it gets for confirming stories.
Kingery, who was headed to Central Arizona, was so productive at the
plate and slick in the field it was hard to believe he wasn't recruited
harder, but sounds like he found a good spot.
Tucker was considered one of the top sophomores in the state and played an important role for the Pride this season.
In 69 at-bats heading into the postseason, he hit .246 (17 for 69) with
eight runs, two doubles, a triple and six RBI.
