The Arizona Junior National dual wrestling team shined over the weekend in Pocatello, Idaho.

Team Arizona won both the Greco and freestyle Western State dual meet tournaments, facing Idaho in the finals in both disciplines.

In freestyle AZ won by slim margin, 37-35, and won with a little more ease 42-32 in Greco.

The other participating states were Colorado, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington, Montana, Oregon and Utah.

Three wrestlers went undefeated at 10-0 as Jason Holmes (94 lbs), Danny Vega (106 lbs) and Quentin Hovis (126 lbs).

Wrestlers who went undefeated in Greco were Nathan Eldridge (Hvy), Jacob Davis (100), Carlos Apodaca (152) and Merritt Taylor (132), while Brandon Konecny (138) went 5-0 in freestyle.

Desert Vista had three wrestlers compete in graduate Tristan Ezell, who went 4-1 at 220, senior Jeremiah Imonde (3-2 at 182) and junior Alex Carrillo (3-1 at 120) were strong in Greco but didn’t do as well in freestyle.
