Tyler Viza continued the good vibes of his senior over the weekend.

The Desert Vista senior was named MVP of the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game at Surprise Stadium after throwing quality innings to close out a 8-5 win for the South on Sunday.

He struck out four and gave up an unearned run.

He also had a hit in his lone at bat.

"You can't go wrong with it," Viza told AIA365.com "It most definitely pumped me up when we got the runs to tie the game. Then we got the lead and I had to finish. I've been in that position a lot this year so it wasn't new."

The team was coached by the Thunder's Stan Luketich and his coaching staff.

The South earned the win after a couple of local players got things started.

Mountain Pointe's Michael Weaver and Desert Vista's Colby Woodmansee singled and walked, respectively, to begin the game-winning rally and ended up scoring the tie-breaking and an insurance run.
