Former Desert Vista star McKella Williams has come back home to get a start on her coaching career.

Williams, who has lived in Ahwatukee all her life, played varsity volleyball for the Thunder for four years as a an outside hitter, has taken over the Altadena girls program.

Williams was the Thunder's team captain in 2010 and was named first-team all-region.

She continued onto college with a volleyball scholarship at Cal State University San Bernardino.

In 2012-13 academic year at Cal State she was named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic team, but she decided to transfer to Arizona State to complete her education and is now in the coaching ranks.
