As I sit here and watch the final few holes of Pebble Beach, I let the mind drift of what it would be like to play in a PGA event.

Of all the courses in the PGA rotation I think Pebble Beach is the one I’d pick to play if given a chance. Of course Augusta and St. Andrew are right there as well, but the ocean views get me every time.

A couple of Desert Vista products probably have a different answer – at least this week – and I’ll go out on a limb with a guess of Riviera Country Club.

Both Cody McManus, a 2012 graduate, and senior Matt Liringis are playing in Monday’s Northern Trust Open qualifier at Industry Hills Golf Club.

A good performance on Monday and they could find themselves teeing it up on Thursday in the PGA event at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.

They got this far by performing well in pre-qualifying tournaments.

Liringis tied for fifth in a field of 87 with a 4-under par 68 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, Calif.

McManus tied for second in a field of 84 with a 4-under par 68 at Empire Lakes Golf Course in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

Liringis tees off at 7:45 a.m. and McManus at 8:25 a.m. in the one-day, 18-hole event.
