Mountain Pointe and Central Arizona product Jordan Kipper has found his groove in his first year at Texas Christian.
The right-handed starter recently was named the Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week on April 14 and has parlayed that into 18 scoreless innings.
Kipper tossed a career-high eight innings at Dallas Baptist for the No. 15 Horned Frogs
He allowed a run on four hits, did not walk a batter and tied his career-high with eight strikeouts. After giving up two hits to open the third inning, he retired 17 of the final 20 batters he faced, including a string of 11-straight from the fourth through the seventh inning. The junior posted four 1-2-3 innings and allowed only one runner past second base.
Over his last three starts, the right-hander has thrown 20 2/3 innings with one earned run, 12 hits, one walk with 19 strikeouts against Dallas Baptist, Houston Baptist and Texas Tech.
As a starter he is 6-2 with a 2.96 ERA in nine starts and overall he is 6-2 with 3.40 ERA in 11 games with 50 strikeouts and 10 walks in 53 1/3 innings.
Former Pride teammate Kevin Cron leads the team in home runs (4), doubles (12), triples (t-2) and slugging percentage (.462). The junior first baseman/designated hitter is second in RBIs (26) while hitting .269 (39 for 145) as TCU continues to surge heading into the final month of the regular season
