To update a sports brief from last week, Mountain Pointe's request to move its Week 2 football game against Mesa to "Week 0" to accommodate its second hall of fame class was denied by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA).

"It wasn't approved so we will play our schedule as is," Pride athletic director Ian Moses said. "It would have made the event a little more special and easier for all involved."

The decision is curious in that Brophy already had its request to play that week approved as the Broncos play Santa Margarita (Calif.) that very same week and Desert Vista is going to play Palo Verde (Nev.) in the Sollenberger Classic that week, along with Show Low playing another Nevada appointment.

If Mesa had no problem with it then what is the harm?

So much for the thought that Mountain Pointe gets special treatment by the AIA because its former principal (Dr. Harold Slemmer) is the executive director.
