Desert Vista football coach Dan Hinds remained pleased after watching game tape of Saturday’s win over Palo Verde as the Thunder head into their matchup with Mesa.

“Everything I didn’t like – the penalties, the fumbles – are things we can correct and hopefully we got out of our system,” Hinds said Wednesday night. “We played pretty good other than that. Our line was impressive and we made some good decisions at the quarterback position.”

The line stood out, especially senior Zack Tamburo when he was on the defensive side of the ball.

“(Palo Verde) had a good offensive line and there were times where he just walked through the double team,” Hinds said. “He keeps playing like that, he will have an incredible year.”

Another player who impressed that probably wasn’t even on the radar in spring ball was defensive lineman Zack Adcox, a Mountain Pointe transfer.

Adcox had a couple of tackles for a loss and a sack.

“He kept showing up all summer and kept getting better,” Hinds said. “He found himself in the rotation and made the most of his chances.”
