The Pride and Julia Roberts looking good in scrimmage

It is hard to take anything away from a scrimmage, especially when one opponent is far superior to the other but here are few tidbits from the Mountain Pointe-North scrimmage.

When I left it was it was six touchdowns to zero Mountain Pointe with the Pride scoring on their first two possessions and North only having one moderately successive drive that ended with an interception in the end zone.

The Pride started with Caleb Buck at quarterback and they scored on the third play when junior Thomas Warren, who I have singled out for a huge year, broke off about a 30-yard score.

On Mountain Pointe's second possession, Dillan Johnson was the quarterback and the Pride scored when Johnson found Jalen Brown behind the defense.

The third score came from a jitterbug name Garett Craig and he was making people look silly. It reminded me of Julia Roberts' movie. Yes, I referenced Julia Robert.

I don't remember what the movie was called but she was in a suite at US Cellular Field and said something to the effect of "I've got moves you've never seen" to her love interest, who was the guy who played Dirty Steve in Young Guns.

That's probably how North's defenders felt the few times he touched the ball.

I digress, but what I mean to say is this kid needs to get the ball in open space. The St. Mary's escapee was very impressive. He isn't very big, but I think it would be hard to get a clean shot on him because he is so shifty.

I might be mistaken, but I think offensive lineman Kenny Lacy started on the sidelines and senior Kyle Luis was in the lineup. Lacy went in after Jacob "Binky" Davis had his foot stepped on.

Desert Vista transfers A.J. Williamson and Detorrion Harvey started at linebacker and defensive line, respectively.

I swear Jalen Brown, who is switching from No. 85 to No. 2, grew three inches since I saw him last which was at one of the basketball tournaments at Red Mountain. He hasn't filled out yet, but when he does Brown was will be crazy good.

That's all for now. Less than 24 hours before the season starts with Maryvale at DV. Hard to believe, but it is upon us.
