A nugget that came out of the impressive MLK Day win by the Desert Vista girls basketball team is the fact that new coach J'Ontar Coleman is stretching himself thin.

He is still coaching the junior varsity even though he took over the varsity program on Jan.19 when Jaysie Chambers-Sheppard was removed from the team and eventually asked to resign.

As if that wasn't enough, Coleman and his wife, Secora, have seven-month-old quadrulpets.

“I don’t get any sleep,” he said after the Thunder’s 67-51 victory over Mesa Mountain View. “Never. But if they keep winning like this, it’s all worth it.”

The team is 2-1 since he took over as the team defense has been turned up a notch.

Coleman probably wants it kept it at a frantic pace in order to keep from dozing off on the bench.
