The phone rang the next day and just as Dan Hinds expected the situation was over.
Hamilton coach Steve Belles was on the other end and just like that the post-game argument-slash-having-to-be-separated dustup was in the past.
"He called and it was taken care of," Hinds said. "It was just a couple of competitive and emotional guys who let the moment get the best of them. Steve is a great guy and we didn't let it become anything more than it was."
To recap after Hamilton beat the Thunder 35-10 on Oct. 6 at Desert Vista, the two head coaches had to be separated and security intervened.
It stemmed from the Thunder's touchdown in the final minute that led to an incident after the extra point that led to Desert Vista's Zack Tamburo being ejected.
"I knew we'd be OK and it was taken care of the next day," Hinds said.
The two coaches face off again this week with a little more on the line as the Thunder (12-1) face the the Huskies (13-0) for the Division I state title game on Saturday.
