Mountain Pointe usually practices right after school, but with higher than expected temperatures this week it has been pushed to after 5:30 p.m.

Coach Norris Vaughan believes just standing around in the direct sun can be draining on the body and with the Pride's first game this week at Hamilton, he wanted to keep the players as fresh as possible.

Makes sense to me.

I heard on the news this morning this could be the hottest week in recorded history so why not push it back and do anything that might prepare your team better.

When a team has won 40 straight games and three consecutive big school titles, as Hamilton has, try to get any advantage possible.

And after all of the deaths nationwide due to heat related illnesses you can never be too safe.
