Just a couple of notes before heading out the the Desert Vista-Chandler game this evening.

* Mountain Pointe athletic director Ian Moses said they received an email this morning stating that the Pride are still in the Division I postseason despite the loss on Thursday.

The Pride were No. 15 after the AIA/MaxPreps snafu (tournament games were accidentally included in seeding process) dropped them from No. 11 after the formula was re-run.

No sure if they stayed at 15 or dropped to 16. Either way, Mountain Pointe is supposedly in when the AIA releases the brackets on Saturday morning.

The first round for MP and Desert Vista, which is hoping for a first-round home match, is on Tuesday.

* The Desert Vista girls won the Division I cross country section meet on Friday afternoon at the Crossroads Park in Gilbert with sophomore Dani Jones winning the event. Te

The Pride girls were expected to qualify for state next weekend after it looked as if they finished among the top 50 percent of the teams in the field.

The Desert Vista boys finished second despite being without top runner Carter Macey, who had a leg injury end his season, behind Highland and Corona del Sol.

The results for the Mountain Pointe boys were unavailable so I am not sure if they made it or not.

Look for a state cross country preview in Wednesday's edition of the AFN.

* Desert Vista won both the boys and girls Tempe City swim meet on Thursday.

Mountain Pointe's Clara Jenck set meet records in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM.

Look for a state swimming preview in Wednesday's edition of the AFN.
