The freestyle portion of the national championships in Fargo, N.D., didn’t go as well, but who can complain when Arizona has two finalists.

The Cadets from Arizona continued their very impressive summer as they finished 10th overall (compared to sixth in Greco-Roman) behind four All-Americans.

Tucson Ironwood Ridge’s Danny Vega won the 100 pound national title, while Corona del Sol’s Bridger Barker finished second at 170.

Vega was the 11th national champion from Arizona and the first since Renee Torres in 2004.

The other All-Americans were Seton Catholic freshman Quentin Hovis, who finished fifth at 106, and Buckeye Verrado’s Joshua Kramer, who was seventh at 113.

The Juniors had only one All-American as Mesa Mountain View graduate and incoming Arizona State freshman Seth Monty finished seventh.

Areana Villaescusa finished seventh at 125 in the junior division.
