Mountain Pointe coach Norris Vaughan walked off the field a winner Friday night, but part of him took a hit.

Wickenburg had its 43-game regular season winning come to end when it lost 10-0 to Fountain Hills.

Vaughan guided the Wranglers to the first 33 of those wins before taking over the Pride program last season.

"That was tough to see," he said Sunday. "We were there for a lot of that and some of the seniors started for me as sophomores. I think about them a lot and wish them well."

The last time Wickenburg had lost in the regular season was in October of 2005 and it also came against Fountain Hills.

"They had a pretty good run," Vaughan said. "Hopefully, they can come out and start another streak this week."

Vaughan, meanwhile, has kept his regular season streak in tact, having gone 11-0 since coming to Mountain Pointe to run his overall streak to 44 straight.

The Pride will attempt to keep it going at Gilbert Highland this week.
