The coaching search for the girls basketball position at Desert Vista isn't going to be expansive as I expected.

In talking to Thunder athletic director TJ Snyder on Wednesday there are only about 12 applications in hand.

I thought it would be at least three times that considering all the program has to offer despite last year's circus.

As I have mentioned previously the freshmen and junior varsity went undefeated last season and the varsity has two Division I players coming back next year.

It was also recently reported that sophomore Sabrina Haines transferred from Mesa Mountain View.

She averaged 11.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals last year and will only get better over the next two years.

"We are going to try and hammer it out within two weeks," Snyder said. "We want the kids to get to know the coach and get (the coach) acclimated."
