I love a good road trip but this is one I am glad to miss out on.The ride to Yuma can be a long and treacherous one with not much to see in between.

So many orange cones and barrels along the way can make it worse, but the Mountain Pointe football team seem ready to what lies ahead on Friday.

Pride coach Norris Vaughan has been on a few of these long road trips when he was coaching at Wickenburg and they played at places like Mohave Valley and Chino Valley.

"Our kids (at Mountain Pointe) aren't used to it, but it can be beneficial," he said.

The plan is to leave around 11 a.m. or so and head to Arizona Western College for a walk through and have their pre-game meal.

The Pride (3-4) hope to continue playing well against Kofa (1-6) on the way to winning out to make the postseason for the third straight year.

A win, of course, makes time fly by so much faster on the 3 ½ hour ride home, getting the team back to campus somewhere between 1 and 2 a.m. most likely.

The Pride booster club is also sending down a parent bus to help save on the gas and to make sure there is some support in the visitor's stands.
