I talked to Desert Vista football coach Dan Hinds today about the recruitment of breakout star Mike Ingrassia.

He has received much interest from Ivy League schools like Brown, Harvard and Cornell. Recently, West Point and Navy came through the school to take a look at the 6-foot-2, 180-pound speedster.

Ingrassia, who had about 1,600 yards from scrimmage, wants to go to a more prominent Division I school. There is talk of Arizona State showing some late interest, but most of their offers are already on the table.

Hinds has seen strange things happen - citing the plight of the Aaron and Adrian Burks - who were offered scholarships sight unseen after they had an offer from Minnesota rescinded because of a late coaching change.

In other words, plenty can happen between now and the signing date on Feb. 2.

"I told Mike, no matter how it shakes out he is going to have a wonderful opportunity in front of him," Hinds said.
