Mountain Pointe has already had an impressive run on national teams the last six months with Will Claye’s Olympic performance and Reid Priddy captaining the men’s Olympic volleyball team.

Then on Tuesday night the school was represented on the US men’s soccer team as Pride graduate Brad Evans, 27, started for the Americans against Canada at center midfielder in a friendly that closed out the team’s January camp.

It is Evans’ final chance to impress Jurgen Klinsmann, the national team’s new coach, in hopes of making the roster for the World Cup qualifying tournament in Honduras, which begins Feb. 6.

If he isn’t selected then it won’t be long before he returns to the Seattle Sounders of the MSL to continue training in Casa Grande.

Evans, who has been to camp three of the last four years, has been able to play in front of family and friends most of this month as the US National team trained part of the time in Phoenix.

After missing the second half of the 2010 season with the Sounders with a knee injury, Evans has had two consecutive career best years.

In 2011, Evans had five goals and five assists in 20 games (17 starts) and then followed it up four goals and four assists in a career 29 starts.

Overall, Evans has 13 goals and 14 assists in 88 career matches for the Sounders.
