The postseason on the diamond begins on Saturday.

If the regular season was over Mountain Pointe and Desert Vista would be facing each other in the first round.

It might still happen but there are a handful of games remaining this week so it will probably change.

Mountain Pointe, which is No. 13 currently, finishes up at Maricopa today, while No. 20 Desert Vista plays Maricopa Tuesday and Westwood at HoHoKam Stadium on Wednesday.

The 24-team tournament is single elimination the first two rounds before becoming double elimination for the final eight teams.

In softball Desert Vista is the higher seed entering the week at No. 21 with a game against Mesa on Monday and Maricopa on Tuesday.

Mountain Pointe is No. 23 so a win over Westwood on Wednesday is a must or the Pride risks the possibility of falling outside of the 24-team field.

Horizon Honors will miss out on the playoffs in baseball and softball.
