Showed up to Mountain Pointe football practice on Tuesday evening and had to make sure I didn’t make a wrong turn - or seven - on the drive over to the school.
For a second I thought I ended up in Flagstaff.
Turns out I wasn’t at Cardinals camp, but it sure looked like it.
And for good reason.
The Cards decided to donate their old practice jerseys after the NFL switched contracts – they went from Reebok to Nike – in the offseason and the Pride were the lucky team to be awarded the white jerseys, which have red numbers and red blocked shoulder pads.
“It’s pretty cool,” Pride offensive coordinator Eric Lauer said. “The kids get a kick out of it. We are honored they chose us.”
