Jordan Kipper’s continual rise in the eyes of professional scouts should continue when the MLB first-player draft is held June 6-8.

The right-handed starter had a tremendous year at Central Arizona as the Mountain Pointe product was named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference by the coaches in a league known for its offense.

He went 10-2 in 13 games (10 starts) with a 1.32 ERA in 81 2/3 innings. He had two shutouts, allowed 71 hits, struck out 73 and walked 11.

His father, Bruce, said Kipper has heard from several team and that he could go between rounds seven and 10. It’s a big jump after being selected in the 39th round out of high school by the Dodgers and in the 30th round by the Phillies after his freshman year at Central Arizona.

He recently worked out for St. Louis at a pre-draft camp with about 30 other players including 10 pitchers.

What it leads to is hard to tell, but if he isn’t comfortable with it then Kipper will head to Texas Christian in the fall.
