Kevin Cron is on the verge of breaking the state home run record.

He has 10 on the season to give him 43 in his career, which ties Desert Vista's Corey Myers for the Class 5A record. It leaves him one away from tying the state record, which is held by Eloy Santa Cruz's Tony Espinoza, who graduated in 2004.

Cron has been hot lately, crushing four over his last five games, to put him on the brink of the mark.

The Pride plays at Desert Ridge on Wednesday and home on Friday against Westwood.

The home games can be seen on the internet at www.mphsbaseballboosters.com
