Maybe I never noticed before and it is the usual protocol.

Yet, I thought it was odd to see a handful of Mesa coaches, including head coach Kelley Moore, decked out in their purple and gold at Friday's Desert Vista game.

Of course it was a unique situation.

The DV-Maryvale game was the only game in the entire state, so it was a chance for Moore to see the Thunder in person in preparation for this week's game instead of sending a freshman coach to take notes and then match it up with the game film.

Everyone knows that the advance scouting is done but it is, or so I thought, usually done a little more discreetly.

Moore is one of the more gracious, straight forward coaches in the state so I suppose it makes sense that he wouldn't try to mix into the crowd and be proud to wear his colors.

Still, it was a bit odd to see.
