Apparently the football teams from Ahwatukee like the thin air of Flagstaff.

Mountain Pointe won the High Mountain Challenge at Northern Arizona by going 9-0 including a win over Basha in the finals that was secured by Jalen Brown’s interception.

Desert Vista lost in the semifinals to Basha, but the Thunder offensive linemen won their third Big Man Challenge with Zack Tamburo named MVP.

Thunder defensive lineman Lorenzo Melvin was offered by the Lumberjacks, to give him three total.

The Pride’s win, depending on what you make of 7-on-7 events, is important considering they are breaking in sophomore quarterback Antonio Hinojosa, who helped beat his former team – Maros de Niza – in the semifinals.

It helps when you have someone as athletic and fearless as Brown, who should have the nickname freak for the things he can do with his body in midair.

I wasn’t there by several media members were on Twitter and mentioned several of his acrobatic plays.

It should be another fun fall in the ‘Tukee.
