The Desert Vista girls basketball program might be without a head coach but it hasn't stopped the girls from working together.

The team and the parents have spent a few days recently at Feed My Starving Children, where people can volunteer their time to hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children and the meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.

It would be easy to let the team go their separate ways this time of year, especially with no coach in place (a hire is expected this week), but the parents and players stepped up and made sure that wasn't the case.

Considering all that has gone on with the team this year, it wouldn't be surprising to hear the program is fractured or there were certain cliques.

All indications point to that being far from true.

It bodes well for whoever the administration decides to bring in to run the program next season.

The last interview was expected to happen early in the week and a decision made soon thereafter.
