The Mountain Pointe baseball team keeps on reaping rewards for the school first state title game.
The Pride is heading to Chase Field tonight to catch the Diamondbacks and Braves in style.
They will be in one of the suites courtesy of Atlanta reserve outfielder Joe Mather, the first major leaguer to come out of Mountain Pointe, according to athletic director Ian Moses.
Mather is hitting .286 in 12 games during his third stint in the major leagues, the first with Atlanta.
He was drafted by the St. Louis in 2001 as a third round pick and made the majors with the Cards in 2008 for 54 games. After spending the whole season in the minors in 2009, Mather was called up in 2010 by the Cardinals and appeared in 36 games.
Mather, 28, was claimed off waivers by the Braves and started the year in Triple-A Gwinnett before getting called up on April 28.
