The Mountain Pointe football team took one last look in the rearview mirror and refocused on the road ahead.
It’s probably the best way to approach last week’s monumental win over Hamilton.
The team watched the game film on Monday afternoon, took some notes and moved on to Mesa.
The Pride hosts the Jackrabbits this week and coach Norris Vaughan believes it was important to take that approach.
“If you let it linger it can be a problem,” he said. “We put that game to rest and we are focused on Mesa. We are not looking down the road. That is a big school and they’ve had some good seasons. They’ve got a good coach who gets his team ready to play.”
Mountain Pointe won last year’s meeting 41-0, which was the first meeting between the two schools since Mesa beat the Pride 14-10 in the 2009 state semifinals.
