Mara Kemmer took her precision on the basketball court and continued it on the softball diamond.

The Ahwatukee Foothills resident has helped Valley Christian to a ninth seed in the Division IV state tournament.

She ranked in in the nation, based on MaxPrep's stats, in strikeouts per 7 innings at 16.55.

Although she missed two weeks during the season, she still ranks 56th in the nation in total strikeouts (201).

She has thrown two no-hitters and three one-hitters.

Offensively, she is hitting .671 and hasn't struck out this season.

The Trojans open up postseason play Saturday against No. 23 Joseph City at Rose Mofford Field in Phoenix.
