A few weeks back I wrote a story about Ron Passmore's grass roots project of trying to build a quality baseball complex in Ahwatukee Foothills for youth baseball.

He recently contacted me with an update on the Ahwatukee Baseball Complex (ABC) Project.

The group has changed its focus from already existing parks in the Ahwatukee area to a 28-acre plot of land owned by the Kyrene School District.

It's on the west side of the Chandler Blvd. exit off the I-10.

The hope is the land would be leased or possibly become a public private partnership of some sort.

The idea is to propose a master plan that would appeal to a wide array of interests (dog run, amphitheater, soccer fields, etc.) instead of focusing solely on baseball.

Passmore has no time frame on all of this but is pushing forward with high hopes.

If you'd like to get involved or get more information, contact Passmore at ABCproject2011@gmail.com
