Follows is what we’ve been doing throughout the month of March.

Mexico

I took my first international trip as mayor in February to visit with the business leaders of our largest trading partner and biggest customer, Mexico. City Manager David Cavazos and I fostered business and tourism relationships there.

Transparency

I suspended my show on Phoenix Channel 11 so residents can tune in during our formal city meetings and see their city government at work, showing my commitment to transparency and openness.

Economic development

The City Council and I approved a globally competitive and sustainable economic development plan focusing on bio-life sciences, advanced business services, manufacturing, foreign trade and emerging enterprises.

Neighbors

I announced a new Neighborhood Advisory Committee, made up of a diverse group of leaders who will direct their concerns to me from every corner of the city.

Protecting kids

My wife, Nicole France Stanton, testified in a state Senate committee in favor of SB 1462, an anti-bullying bill that requires school employees to complete training to recognize when bullying has occurred and how to react. The bill passed committee.

• Greg Stanton was elected mayor of Phoenix in 2011.
