Thousands of Arizona veterans will be returning from the wars and 20 to 25 percent of them will suffer from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - the unseen wound.

PTSD impacts the lives of the individual, family and community. PTSD is not visible, it's not physically apparent, but is can be devastating.

The United States War Veterans, PTSD Foundation headquartered right here in Chandler, provides confidential comprehensive treatment for United States combat veteran's suffering with PTSD "free of charge" and helps them achieve a healthy re-integration into civilian life.

We need your help to carry out our mission and to provide programs to support more returning war veterans.

How can I help the troops?

• Attend our War Veteran's Appreciation Party/Dance from 3 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 14 at Skip & Jan's Sports Bar, 7700 S. Priest Drive in Tempe. The Arizona Bopcats have donated their time to play '50s music. A Meat/Seafood Auction/Raffle will be available to raise money for treating the troops.

• If you cannot attend the Jan. 14 event, you can send a tax deductible donation - we are an IRS certified 501 (c) (3) charity with Tax ID# 26-2064449 - to United States War Veteran's PTSD Foundation, 5791 W. Kessler St., Chandler, AZ 85226, or donate online at www.azptsd.org.

• We need volunteers to help on many future events. Please send me an email at vince@azptsd.org with your phone number if you want to help. Our military troops and veterans greatly appreciate your support.

• Vince Petroniero is development director of the United States War Veteran's PTSD Foundation. Reach him at vince@azptsd.org.
