"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

What do those inspiring words mean today? Words which were first written in August of 1892 and last modified in 1954 when the phrase “under God” was added at the suggestion of President Dwight Eisenhower.

Is our republic starting to fail at the hand of the progressive liberal? Has the nation become divided by the multiculturalist theories of the left-wing extremist?

What is a progressive liberal? Does progressive liberalism stand for the principles of the land of the free and the home of the brave? Or does it present us with control by a central government which cannot and will not be denied. A government who picks the winners and losers in the business world and even who should live or die when it comes to health care. And worst of all, a government who indoctrinates our children with the principles of collective socialism through our education system.

Are we still one nation under God? President Ronald Reagan once said when we forget we’re one nation under God, we’re a nation gone under. How right he was!

Do we still believe that “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” is our destiny? Can we deny the genius of Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, Adams, Madison and Hamilton? Can we deny the common sense of Thomas Paine? Can we forget the words of Patrick Henry in his “Give me Liberty or give me death!” speech at the Second Virginia Convention in March of 1775?

Are our goals still a more perfect Union, the establishment of justice, ensuring domestic tranquility, providing for the common defense, promoting the general welfare and securing the Blessings of Liberty for ourselves and our Posterity?

Have the symbols and principles of our national heritage become so vague and meaningless we’re ready to give up liberty for security?

Let’s rekindle the spirit of the individual, fiscal responsibility and small government.

Let’s reject the siren song of security by the progressive liberal and the oppressive socialist government which he represents.

Let’s regain the courage to stand for Liberty and the benefits it bestows upon us.

Liberty is the perfect law. James 1:25 ESV, The Holy Bible.
