One of the biggest social events in Ahwatukee Foothills returns this weekend.
The 16th annual Festival of Lights Wine and Beer Tasting Festival kicks off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 at the Foothills Golf Club, 2201 E. Clubhouse Drive.
The event features more than 50 varieties of wine and beer samples, music from the Lil Debbie Band and a silent auction of more than 100 items.
Benefits from the event will go toward the Festival of Lights, the million-plus LED light display that graces Chandler Boulevard from Thanksgiving to New Year's night.
The annual festival lasts until 10 p.m., brings in upwards of 1,000 people and raises between $30,000 and $35,000 for the Festival of Lights.
Silent auction items include sports memorabilia, event tickets and trip packages. Local restaurants will also be on-hand and dishing out samples to guests.
Tickets to the event can be purchased for $40 in advance or $50 at the door.
Before the event, resident golfers are invited to participate in the 2011 Festival of Lights Charity Golf Tournament, starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
The cost is $100 per person or $375 for a foursome. That includes lunch, range balls, a cart and an entry into a prize drawing.
The Festival of Lights is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers.
